Trans-oesophageal Echocardiography (TOE) is being increasingly used inside the operating room. The anaesthesiologist is expected to not only perform the TOE examination but understand and interpret the images. Although, TOE provides crisp, clean and detailed images, it is not easy to interpret them, especially for the anaesthesiologist who is not used to echocardiography. A well defined training for and experience with the technique is necessary. This atlas will go a long way in fulfilling this objective.
