Is the ready material in a handwritten, typed form or available in computer soft copy (files) and hard copy (printout)? - Total number of expected pages (clarify whether handwritten, typed or computer printout and on what size paper; also whether double-spaced. Also, please specify average number of words per page).
- Total number of line diagrams. Photographs (B/W & Colour). Are these in a final form for processing or are rough sketches ready? No of Tables.
- How many copies of the typescript or ready chapters can you provide for our processing?
- Please send a complete list of chapter contents alongwith a synopsis stating the scope, approach, aim and market of your book alongwith this form.
- Please specify particular features of your book, which make it special. Also, please outline the benefits readers would derive from this book.
- Have you covered any topics, which are usually not discussed in book of this kind?
- Does your book represent a new approach to the subject? How recent are the references?
- Does your book contain features like solved examples, problems, review exercise etc.?
About the Market
- What exactly is the market for which you have written the book? Please specify course, level:UG/PG/reference or professional. Also whether the subject is core/compulsory/basic/
optional/reference.
- If possible, please name specific boards, colleges, universities and institutes whose syllabi have been covered.
- Has the material in your book been class-tested?
- Please give an idea about enrolments for this subject in your Institute/ college/university as well as all India (An approximate figure would be adequate)
- What is the title of the course for which this book will be used? If there are some other courses with different titles, please list all such courses.
- Please list in detail (Name, address and designation) individuals who are in a position to recommend your book for purchase to substantial number of students, to whom we should consider sending a complimentary copy of your book.
- Are you in a position to get the book adopted in your college/university/institute or other college/universities/institutes? If yes please give details.
- In case it is necessary to approach the NBT for subsidy to enable pricing the book competitively, would you be able to (a) provide two typed copies of the typescript; (b) provide a letter from the Head of the Department or a Professor in your department recommending your work for subsidy? Please note that the NBT usually takes 4 to 5 months in processing a proposal.
- Please list major Indian and foreign competition. Please give details like price, number of pages, year of publication and name of publisher. Also we would welcome details on how your book compares with the listed competition in approach, syllabi coverage, and ease of understanding and student-orientation.
